Welcome back, energy champions! As we all know March in West Virginia is when winter and spring battle it out in a seasonal tug-of-war. It's unpredictable and can be messy, but it always leads to new growth. Our fight for energy freedom in West Virginia is similar, but with your support, we're moving forward to brighter, greener days.

Net Metering Proposed Settlement Welcomed by Solar Advocates

The settlement provides a grandfather clause for people with solar equipment and for those who plan to add a solar option by the end of the year. The existing customers will be able to keep the grandfather rate for the next 25 years as well.

During this event, you can expect a highly interactive workshop designed to break down the basics of the energy system in West Virginia, highlighting barriers that prevent access to affordable energy.

We're not just looking to educate; we aim to connect, hear your unique stories of battling rising energy costs, and the specific challenges communities across West Virginia face. Bring along friends, family, neighbors, and yes, even that dreaded electricity bill, as we band together to forge a path toward sustainable energy solutions.

Legislative Updates

Net Metering Update

Monongahela Power Company and The Potomac Edison Company (Case: 23-0460-E-42T)

Thanks to your efforts in rallying, writing, and petitioning, the PSC has reached a beneficial agreement for net metering. Here's what's happening for Potomac Edison and MonPower customers:

  • Existing Customers: Keep 1:1 net metering for 25 years, ensuring stable, long-term benefits.

  • New Customers: Apply by Dec 31, 2024, for 1:1 net metering. Residential systems need installation by Dec 31, 2025; commercial by June 30, 2026.

  • After 2025: A new rate of $0.09343/kWh for excess energy, stable for two years and capped at a 10% annual change.


This agreement marks significant progress towards securing our energy freedom, thanks to your unwavering support. Let's keep the momentum going.
